Sulaimaan earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics/Chemistry from Stony Brook University and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Medicine at the same institution. With a wealth of tutoring experience, including serving as a teaching assistant for an organic chemistry class, Sulaimaan has worked with students from diverse backgrounds. His tutoring journey began with a simple desire to assist others in achieving success.
Sulaimaan's passion for tutoring is fueled by the meaningful connections he forms with students and his capacity to help them achieve their goals. He specializes in ACT and SAT tutoring and other subjects as needed, including AP courses.
Sulaimaan's tutoring approach is highly interactive and hands-on. He challenges the conventional notion that lecturing is the most effective method of learning. Instead, he actively engages students through practice problems and flashcards and encourages them to articulate concepts in their own words. By employing these strategies, Sulaimaan ensures that students not only grasp the material but also internalize it more effectively. While maintaining high expectations for his students, Sulaimaan also prioritizes creating an enjoyable learning experience. He knows when to incorporate breaks to maintain focus and infuses students’ interests into his lessons.
One of Sulaimaan's most notable strengths as a tutor lies in his ability to guide students through their self-doubt. He firmly believes that everyone possesses the capability to learn and improve, but it requires a particular mindset to achieve this. Sulaimaan actively fosters this mindset in students, working to convince them of their own potential and empowering them to overcome their doubts.
When Sulaimaan isn't occupied with tutoring or his medical studies, he enjoys playing basketball and video games, going to the gym, and spending time with his cat named Bunny.
Hannah earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania before obtaining a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University. With extensive experience in student guidance, including five years as a high school mathematics teacher and tutor and teaching college bridge courses to high school graduates, Hannah brings a wealth of knowledge to her coaching role.
As a classroom teacher, Hannah built interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills while providing high-quality support to students, their families, and colleagues. After constantly answering college and financial aid questions, she realized her passion for counseling students toward their higher education goals.
As a coach, Hannah loves getting to know students holistically to understand their interests and passions and help uplift those skills. She is a cheerleader and motivator, believing in students even when they don't believe in themselves. Recognizing the anxiety and overwhelm that can accompany the admissions process, she aims to alleviate stress and always lends a listening ear when students need to vent. One of her go-to mentoring methods for helping students manage tasks is the Pomodoro Technique: 25 minutes of focused work, followed by a 5-minute break, with a longer 30-minute break every 90 minutes. This approach allows her to help students break down large tasks into manageable, bite-sized chunks.
Hannah is excited to support students in the admissions process and ensure they submit compelling applications to schools where they can thrive and contribute to a diverse school community!
In her free time, Hannah enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, where she rock climbs, runs, skateboards, hikes, and surfs. She lived in Hawaii for three and a half years and learned how to surf there. Now, she surfs in a wetsuit in the freezing cold water of New York City at Rockaways Beach! She is also an avid reader, puzzle-solver, and cook.
Eric earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wartburg College and his Master’s degree in Political Science from Harvard University. He has over seven years of tutoring experience, including giving full-day lectures at schools across the US on how to ace the ACT.
Specializing in ACT studies, Eric is passionate about working with students to achieve their goals, whether it be mastering the exam, achieving the perfect score to get into their dream school, or overcoming test anxiety.
As a tutor, Eric strives to simplify the ACT experience for his students. His background in psychology, particularly in test construction, sets him apart and equips him with insights into the most effective test-taking strategies.
One of Eric's greatest strengths is understanding student weaknesses and offering precise and tailored assistance to help them overcome these challenges and improve their scores.
When Eric isn't tutoring, he studies for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and plays board games. He loves board games, probably too much. Okay, too much (says his wife). Oh, and he makes a mean cheesecake.
